The Auburn Raptors Basketball Program was founded in 2008 by a group of fathers who wanted to provide more basketball opportunities for their sons outside of the local recreation leagues. What began as a small, community-based effort has grown into one of the premier travel basketball programs in the Southeast—bringing together players from across the region who share a love for the game and a commitment to growth.

Under the leadership of founding president Ron Anders, the program built a strong foundation rooted in family, teamwork, and teaching the game the right way. Lisa Sampson carried that vision forward, expanding the program’s reach and solidifying the motto “More Than Basketball.” In 2023, leadership transitioned to AJ Harris, who continues to guide the program with a focus on skill development, mentorship, and long-term player growth.

To develop young athletes through the game of basketball by teaching fundamentals, teamwork, and discipline—while fostering confidence, character, and a lifelong love for the game. The Auburn Raptors are committed to creating an environment where players can learn, compete, and belong both on and off the court.

Every one of our coaches and leaders—including our president—volunteers their time because they believe in the power of sports to shape young lives. Our coaches are dedicated, professional, and experienced, investing their energy into helping players reach their potential while modeling the values of hard work, integrity, and teamwork.

Our Standard

The Auburn Raptors have earned recognition across multiple travel basketball circuits, consistently producing skilled, high-IQ players who go on to play college basketball and football. Yet our greatest pride lies in the character of our alumni—young men and women who have grown into leaders, mentors, and contributors within their schools and communities.
